Comparing fluorescent proteins for in vivo imaging

Fluorescent proteins are tools used to label proteins and watch their dynamics in living cells.
Cell biologists use these tools almost everyday to address all sorts of questions about how cells work, but we constantly found ourselves asking which fluorescent protein we should choose for a given experiment.
Using CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, I was able to perform a systematic comparison of bright, commonly used, green and red fluorescent proteins.
